Meet the team
Director / Electrician
Alex began his electrical apprenticeship in Taumarunui and the early age of 16. By 21 he was running a team in Matamata and project managing large commercial developments, such as Waitomo caves and Innovation Park to name a few. But by far his best move has been going out on his own in 2013. When he’s not on the tools or is avoiding office work Alex likes being out on the water, mountain biking, enjoying time with his girls or nagging his wife for a bigger boat, digger, workshop you name it.
Director / Accounts
Clare is the ultimate multitasker, kept on her toes wrangling two pre-schoolers, the books, the purse strings, and an ambitious husband! With a background in management and finance and being a tad on the side of bossy, we make a great team.
Erin is another multi-tasking career woman, juggling three kids, hubby’s plumbing business and the Alex Stewart Electrical office. Erin’s previous experience in marketing and admin means she brings all the skills required to keep the boys in line and the place looking ship shape, not to mention getting the paperwork done on time and answering all those phone calls.
Senior Registered Electrician
Don’t hold it against him but Luke originally came to us from northern England where their accents are so strong it puts our Kiwi twang to shame (that is if you can understand him!) His other half is a New Zealander so perhaps we can let him stay. Luke has 13 years experience in the trade and has an incredible array of skills, being able to tackle any task thrown his way. Luke is an avid outdoorsman, always on the go wakeboarding, mountain biking or snowboarding.
A fresh import all the way from South Africa, David and his young family arrived in our beautiful NZ in late 2019. Having previously run his own company in SA, David is enjoying the variety of work and the team vibe within Alex Stewart Electrical. He and his family are loving NZ and all the amazing places to see and things to do in Taupo. A keen fisherman David has been making the most of Taupo’s plentiful waterways.
Our very first apprentice, Ryan was fresh out of school with a weekend job and we have seen him grow from strength to strength. His on job learning with our registered guys and on varying jobs has taken him a long way from stocking shelves at countdown. A hard worker and a great asset to the team. Outside of work Ryan likes to keep fit and active and be social, keeping his personal life antics private from his employers (probably a very smart move when your 21!)
Andy is on his second trade, thought he might try his hand at becoming a sparky after working in the print industry for years. He’s very keen to learn, great with people and is a natural leader. Powering through his paperwork and soaking up the knowledge and skills Andy will be on the road to becoming a registered electrician in no time. Taupo born and bred Andy knows how to make the most of living in our beautiful town as well as carrying out home reno’s to keep the other half happy.
Logan is the youngest of the team, so he certainly knows his way around a broom! But his ever-increasing book knowledge plus skills picked up over time on-site means he’s a huge help to the registered guys and still has plenty of time for moulding into the perfect electrician! He is a great communicator, team player and is eager to learn. Logan is a gun mountain biker, having even spent time overseas.
The hardest worker of us all.....Marley can be found sleeping the day away under the girls desks or taking a leisurely stroll around the yard. Always keen to greet new visitors and lives for smoko time.
